Chili Habanero Datil is sick!

My Habanero Datil (Capsicum chinense) has received a lot of brown spots on the leaves, they are also dry but green as if they were healthy, bursting easy if you pinch them. Probably it is a viral disease, I think it is a virus disease (Colletotrichum capsici) The plant does not need to have had the disease now without seeds can apparently be infected and so break it out when the seedling plant for a while.

This plant, I have not driven up himself but bought as plug seedling. Inga andra av mina plantor är drabbade men för säkerhets skull så får Habanero Datil inte vara kvar i chilihuset utan får stå utanför med lite övertäckning så den inte fryser ihjäl.

Hello and happy summer from Finland!
I have trying to find out what is going on in my chili leaves, because the leaves have exactly the same kind of brown/black spots that you have in these pictures. But thaks to you, now I know why my chilis have spots! There is no bugs or other moving or flying objects in my chili, only weird spots. I have 7 different chili species and only 3 have this virus. Chilis are at my balcony and very close to each other, also in touch, but the virus has not spread yet to all chilis. I noticed first spots 2 months ago, and it has spread little by little from old leaves, and now all the new leaves have those spots too. Fruits looks normal and taste normal, so maybe there is nothing to worry about… right..?

      Hi!.

If the plants are growing and doing well I don’t think you need to worry about it. You should not take the seeds from these plants fruits. The disease can be present in the seed and provide infected seedlings.

Good luck with your chili pepper cultivation

      Regards, Stig
